Aircraft Mechanic III (Composite Repair) (Maintenance)
PKL Services will be providing contractor Intermediate Level (MALS, I-Level) maintenance in support of 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing (3rd MAW) squadrons at Marine Corps Air Station Camp Pendleton, CA.
Aircraft Composite Fabricator Mechanic III
The Aircraft Fabricator Mechanic shall fabricate composite materials to form composite skin panels or repair composite parts. This mechanic shall be able to interpret/read engineering instructions, blueprints, drawings, technical manuals, etc. and shall have the ability to layout work and coordinate related work processes.
The Composite Fabricator shall develop and fabricate individual ply flat patterns and accurately position and orient each lamina within the laminate; use these flat patterns to cut individual plies from a variety of unidirectional advanced composite prep; and cure layup panels utilizing ovens, autoclaves, localized heat blankets, vacuum bags and restraining fixtures under various controlled temperature and pressure cycles. He/she shall develop and coordinate repair mylars for each replacement ply of a laminate to be repaired.
The Composite Fabricator Mechanic shall operate production shop equipment such as band saw, drill press, high speed router, sander, heat cure oven, electronic temperature controller, autoclave, automated honeycomb core carver, specimen cutting machine, ultrasonic measuring equipment, and vacuum system, as well as various types of gauges and meters.
This skilled fabricator mechanic shall have a thorough knowledge of bonding and high-pressure laminating techniques to repair, and/or fabricate aircraft structures comprised of composite materials.
This mechanic shall also have a thorough knowledge of mixing adhesives and applying proper adhesives to maintain proper thickness. He will have the requisite knowledge of and shall be familiar with processes in carbon, boron, aramid (Kevlar), glass, fiber, aluminum, titanium, steel, and metallic honeycomb.
The Composite Fabricator mechanic shall be experienced in structural adhesive bonding (metal to metal) and composite structural repair in accordance with SAE AIR4938.
The Aircraft Composite Fabricator Mechanic shall verify his/her experience and make available documentation of experience upon request to the COR and program manager.

Four + years of aircraft experience with the fabrication and repair of composite material, preferably in support of Intermediate maintenance requirements, with 2 years airframes structural repair experience on V-22 aircraft. High School Diploma or equivalent. Shall be a U.S. citizen to ensure access to flight line work spaces, restricted areas (RA) and critical information systems via eligibility to attain and maintain a CAC card. Must be able to pass a background check. Must possess a valid state drivers license if billet requires use of a government owned vehicle. Will be familiar with all relevant publications, directives, orders, and tooling.

This is a full time/ non-exempt/ union position. $45.48 hour $533.60 per pay period as a Health & Welfare benefit. $75.00 employer contribution each month towards the Machinist Custom Choice Benefits. The company sponsors group medical, dental, vision, basic life paid coverage plans for the employee/family. Employee contributions required. 401k plan. The company will match 45% of the first 6% of the employees contribution. Twelve (12) paid holidays per year. Employees will accrue PTO at a bi-weekly accrual rate (144 hours annual). See CBA. Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Primarily in a workshop. You may transit the flight line ramp/apron in high noise areas. Ability to both sit and stand for long periods of time. Ability to perform repetitive motion (keyboarding, 10-key). This position requires normal physical functions. Work may require frequent bending, reaching, and climbing. May frequently lift and carry items weighing up to fifty pounds and occasionally lift heavier items with the assistance of other workers. Work may be performed on top or under equipment in cramped or awkward positions. Normal color perception required. The noise level in the workshop is moderate. May be exposed at times to moderate discomforts such as heat, cold, rain, wind.
