Job Summary: The Quality Inspector is responsible for conducting inspections, tests, and troubleshooting operations to ensure that products meet established quality standards. This role requires attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and a solid understanding of manufacturing processes to ensure the highest level of quality and compliance. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Inspection Procedures: Execute a series of standardized inspection procedures and operations to assess the quality of materials, parts, and finished products in accordance with established methods and criteria. Quality Assurance: Inspect and test parts, assemblies, and work to ensure that workmanship and product specifications are met. Identify deviations, resolve issues, and recommend corrective actions as necessary. Testing and Measurement: Perform detailed measurements and electrical tests on bus bar assemblies and other components using specialized equipment and instruments. Test Equipment Setup: Set up, calibrate, and operate a variety of test equipment and machinery to assess the functionality and performance of components, ensuring they meet all technical specifications. Blueprint and Drawing Interpretation: Use assembly drawings, process sheets, and inspection procedures to determine the acceptability of components. Interpret engineering drawings, including geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), to perform thorough inspections. Communication with Supervision: Effectively communicate any quality issues or non-conformities to supervisors and other relevant personnel. Participate in the identification of root causes and corrective actions for quality problems. Housekeeping and Safety: Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment. Ensure all workspaces are compliant with company safety practices, policies, and procedures. Follow all personal protective equipment (PPE) guidelines to ensure safety during inspections and testing. Training and Development: Assist in the training and development of other inspectors or team members, sharing expertise and ensuring consistency in inspection procedures and quality standards. Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of inspections, test results, and quality reports. Ensure data is logged in compliance with company procedures for traceability and auditing. Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements in inspection methods, testing protocols, or quality control practices to enhance product quality and operational efficiency. Qualifications and Skills: A minimum of 1-2 years of relevant inspection experience, with a proven track record in a manufacturing or quality control environment. Experience working with electronic components or bus bar assemblies is a plus. Inspection and test certifications are preferred. Familiarity with FAIR (First Article Inspection Report) and PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) is highly desirable. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, process sheets, inspection procedures, and other technical documents. Strong understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T). Solid working knowledge of basic math, including the ability to perform calculations and measurements. Strong analytical skills to detect problems, recognize patterns, and implement solutions. Working knowledge of manufacturing and quality control processes, including familiarity with industry standards (ISO, ASTM, etc.). Ability to clearly and effectively communicate both verbally and in writing. Ability to collaborate with team members and supervisors to address quality concerns and resolve issues. Strong ability to identify problems, evaluate root causes, recommend corrective actions, and apply solutions. Experience in troubleshooting and improving production processes. Competency in using various measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, gages) and electronic test equipment (oscilloscopes, multimeters). Familiarity with computer software for report writing and data analysis. Must be able to adapt to changes in work schedules, job assignments, and new inspection techniques or technologies as required. This role requires a high degree of attention to detail, the ability to work independently, and the ability to collaborate effectively with team members and supervisors to maintain product quality.
