The Senior Accountant in the Property Accounting department is responsible for maintaining the AFE (Authorization for Expenditure) records for multiple companies. This includes reviewing AFEs for correct charges, calculating and recording internal costs, and reporting of cost information. Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Daily review and approval of AFEs, in-service and closing notifications
Utilize accounting guidance and policies to review AFE scopes of work for "capital vs expense" determination
Prepare and record monthly journal entries
Assist in preparation of key reports and schedules when necessary
Timely reconciliation of AFE subledger to General Ledger
Timely review and preparation of AFE billings
Provide technical guidance to others when needed
Utilize software applications such as Oracle, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word
Work with other departments to obtain information needed for the close process or other projects
Adhere to SOX procedures and documentation guidelines
Responsible for the timely resolution of outstanding accounting issues
Complete special projects requested from other departments or within the department
The successful candidate will meet the following qualifications:
A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Accounting is required
A minimum of 5 years accounting experience is preferred
Oracle experience is preferred
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is required
Must be detailed-oriented
Must have strong analytical and organizational skills
Must have proficiency with accounting concepts
Ability to communicate, both verbally and in writing, with all levels of the organization and external parties is required
Must be a self-starter with the ability to multi-task, work under pressure and meet deadlines
Ability to take direction well and uphold the standards and procedures of the department is required
Ability to adapt to change and work in a fluid environment
Works effectively with minimal technical supervision
Ability to set goals within departmental guidelines
