Summary:

We are looking for driven, talented Process Engineers to join the Process & Automation Engineering team in the Manufacturing Technology and Transfer (MTT) group. The MTT group works as an integral part of our Consumables Development and Manufacturing teams and is tasked with developing and deploying scalable manufacturing processes of sequencing consumables for high-volume production environments.

In this role, the individual will use engineering principles, best practices, and concepts to assist in substrate process development, design, scale-up, improvement, and validation. The individual will also provide technical leadership to new product introduction, and production process development. Additionally, the individual will partner cross-functionally with Product Development, Quality, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and other engineering groups to develop and sustain processes for new sequencing consumables.

Responsibilities:

• Participate in consumable product development, manufacturing process development, process and product improvements, and other activities for high volume manufacturing of consumables to sequence genomes.
• Represent Operations needs on development teams for effective transfer of products and processes into manufacturing.
• Work cross functionally with Product Development, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Quality teams to enable operations for launch and high-volume manufacturing.
• Define technical requirements for manufacturing processes and new production equipment.
• Develop understanding of CPM (Critical Parameter Management), construct and execute controlled experiments and including DOEs to optimize processes, troubleshoot yield and quality issues and drive implementation of solutions in a production environment.
• Analyze process test results, issue reports, and make technical recommendations to improve product and process quality.
• Design, develop and source production equipment and materials from vendors to enable high volume manufacturing.
• Author procedures and instructions for new manufacturing processes and train production operators to manufacture product in a GMP environment.
• Lead process/equipment validations, CAPAs, complaint investigations, product and process non-conformances, risk management, and supplier surveillance.
• Utilize expertise in 6-sigma, DFSS, 8D, etc. to troubleshoot product and process issues.

Requirements:

High-level problem solving and reasoning skills are required.

Demonstrated ability to accomplish goals while working across departments is required.

Interdepartmental communication skills and documentation skills are required.

High level computer skills are required.

Experience with Statistics, Statistical Process Control and DOE techniques is a plus.

Experience with mechanical manufacturing processes preferred.

Education :

B.S., or M.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Material Science, Bioengineering, or similar discipline with 0-2+ years of relevant experience in production support/sustaining and/or process definition and development, design, scale-up, improvement, and validation.

The estimated base salary range for the Engineer 1 - Process Development role based in the United States of America is: $61,700 - $92,500. Should the level or location of the role change during the hiring process, the applicable base pay range may be updated accordingly. Compensation decisions are dependent on several factors including, but not limited to, an individual's qualifications, location where the role is to be performed, internal equity, and alignment with market data. Additionally, all employees are eligible for one of our variable cash programs (bonus or commission) and eligible roles may receive equity as part of the compensation package.
