Lead Revenue Accountant (Finance)

The company is one of the largest privately held natural gas producers in the US and focuses on producing natural gas in an environmentally responsible manner.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Lead Revenue Accountant under minimal oversight is responsible for preparing and validating the revenue distribution of oil, gas and NGLs. This role also is accountable for calculating appropriate accruals to ensure financial statement accuracy and preparing applicable general ledger account reconciliations. Additionally, the Lead Revenue Accountant will prepare internal and external documents and interact with various state and federal agencies, partners, members of the Revenue and Production team, and other departments. The position reports to the Revenue Supervisor in the Denver office.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage and/or perform timely preparation and validation of the revenue distribution process.
- Ensure processing documentation is current and accurate to mitigate risk for the company.
- Research and resolve discrepancies in the revenue distribution process.
- Perform monthly accruals, reconciliations, and analysis.
- Partner with Revenue Supervisor to review various deliverables from the team, ensuring their accuracy and posting as necessary.
- Manage the follow-up and resolution of revenue accounting issues, ensuring timely updates to internal notes.
- Maintain/Update set-ups in Quorum (or any future system) to facilitate accurate accounting results.
- Manage all non-operated properties recording of revenues and accruals.
- Manage EnergyLink and owner inquiry processes.
- Assist accounting in troubleshooting system related issues and provide alternatives and solutions.
- Participate with and coordinate system testing of Quorum, or any future system to ensure functionality and updates are working appropriately.
- Work closely with others in Revenue and Production Accounting to complete month end close (Revenue Accruals, Accountant Reconciliations, etc.).
- Serve as a point of contact in the Accounting Department for other departments (IT, Engineering, Land, etc.).
- Review the input of plant volumes and verify interfaces into Quorum for revenue distribution.
- Provide excellent customer service and resolve Ad hoc requests from individuals both internally and externally.
- Develop the skill set of their team, including themselves, in areas related to revenue accounting such as regulatory reporting, tax reporting and statutory requirements in the states we operate.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent relevant work experience
- 8+ years of Oil and Gas accounting experience
- Quorum Business Solutions, or similar oil and gas system experience
