Plant Controller (Project Management)
Position Overview
The Plant Controller is responsible for overseeing and managing all accounting and financial activities at Viskase Loudon. This role ensures maximum efficiency at minimal cost while maintaining compliance with corporate policies, division regulations, and health and safety standards. The ideal candidate will provide strategic financial insights, lead accounting functions, and drive continuous improvement to support overall plant operations.
Essential Responsibilities
Supervise and oversee invoice auditing, inventory control, cash flow, accounting systems, and other financial activities to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
Audit and maintain accurate financial records in compliance with company policies and industry regulations.
Lead, train, and develop accounting personnel to maximize performance, ensuring job satisfaction, safety, and high morale.
Provide comprehensive cost analysis and financial reporting to support plant and corporate decision-making.
Assist the Plant Manager in planning and managing plant and departmental operating budgets.
Distribute financial reports and insights to relevant departments, ensuring timely and accurate data sharing.
Develop, update, and recommend improvements to accounting policies, procedures, and best practices.
Coordinate and implement corporate policy changes related to financial and accounting matters.
Maintain financial activities in alignment with corporate standards, legal regulations, and health and safety protocols.
Manage inventory controls, office supply storage, and the plant key system.
Address personnel concerns, recommend corrective actions, and collaborate with Human Resources to ensure a productive workplace.
Ensure office equipment is maintained and fully operational to support daily business functions.
Oversee monthly financial summaries and reports.
Monitor and verify physical inventory accuracy and control processes.
Maintain and update the pay policy manual for hourly employees to ensure compliance and transparency.
Manage and maintain data processing equipment and financial systems to ensure efficiency and security.
Perform additional duties as assigned by the Plant Manager.
Promote a culture of safety by adhering to all local and corporate safety policies and encouraging plant-wide safety objectives.
Lead departmental efforts to ensure compliance with all food safety requirements.
Support ISO9001 standards by fostering continuous improvement and ensuring products and services consistently meet customer expectations.
Education and Requirements
Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in Accounting or Finance, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
Leadership: Proven ability to lead and supervise accounting teams effectively.
Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills with a high level of professionalism.
Problem-Solving: Ability to identify organizational needs, drive continuous improvement, and recommend actionable financial strategies.
Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy in financial reporting and record-keeping.
Presentation Skills: Ability to present financial data clearly and concisely and respond to questions from various departments and levels of management.
Regulatory Knowledge: Strong understanding of financial regulations, accounting principles, and inventory cost management best practices.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and SAP financial systems.
Budgeting Experience: Strong background in developing, managing, and monitoring budgets.
