Position Summary
To provide for effective production planning, inventory control and procurement functions that allow for timely delivery of quality products. Directs and coordinates production control activities and employees of the department to ensure operation schedules are established to meet the needs of the customers.
Position Responsibilities:
- Establishes goals and develops procedures to allow for product availability as needed, while minimizing raw material WIP and finished goods inventories.
- Directs the activities of the Production Control department ensuring efficient production scheduling to meet delivery dates; effective monitoring of production; and colloection of shop floor raw data.
- Maintains the Plant "Plan For Every Part" (PFEP) system and gives advice, guidance, and direction to carry out authorized production schedules derived from the optimizer system.
- Ensures raw materials and related components are available to meet production requirements.
- Directs the utilization of outside services and ensuring customer quality specifications, service and price requirements are met.
- Develops and maintains procedures to identify production demands that significantly vary from available capacity.
- Ensures maintenance of accurate inventory reporting systems.
- Works with material expediting within and outside the plant.
- Responsible for maintaining an effective system of communications throughout the plant.
- Supervise both hourly and salaried employees of the department.
- Works closely with customer service to resolve customer concerns.
Education and Experience
- Bachelors Degree in a related Field or equivalent Materials Management experience.
- Minimum 5 years experience in a manufacturing management role, fastener industry is a plus.
- Knowledge of inventory controls and production planning, specifically MRP and lean manufacturing.
- Strong analytical and communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize to meet competing deadlines.
