Job: Stockroom Maintenance Manager

Shift: Day (6am - 3:30pm) Flex for weekend work)

Location: Mars Petcare (Fort Smith, AR)

Mars Petcare is seeking a Stockroom Maintenance Manager to join our exciting pet food business at a Fort Smith, AR manufacturing plant. We focus on the unique needs of cats and dogs. The Stockroom Maintenance Manager will make assignments and monitor progress, co-ordinate training, schedule, and develop associates in their area of responsibility, including responsibility for the maintenance apprentice program. Responsible for developing and implementing continuous improvement activities that address safety, quality, and efficiency. Responsible for detailed planning of work in their area, including sub-assembly rebuilds and parts upkeep. This role must have in-depth knowledge of maintenance activities and be recognized as an expert in multiple technologies. This role requires strong leadership, communication, interpersonal and team building skills to support Site objectives.

The Stockroom Maintenance Manager is responsible for leading maintenance and stockroom associates to eliminate all causes of failure to ensure full useful life in coordination with daily autonomous maintenance completed by operating personnel. Leads activities of workers engaged in purchasing, organization and upkeep of spare parts and plant consumables. Provides technical and problem-solving support for the plant and maintenance crews. Supports and executes plant specific maintenance strategies to achieve plants key performance goals for overall maintenance performance.

What will be your key responsibilities?

• Set-up, maintain and be responsible for maintenance systems, inspection routines, inventory control, job scheduling, staff training, identification of plant improvement plans including efficiency and yield.
• Control maintenance expenditure in a cost-effective way according to the site budget for site repairs & rebuilds, resources, direct labor, and overtime.
• Manage projects aimed at asset improvement/utilization, safety, and equipment reliability, utilizing process and project engineering skill sets.
• Identify and pursue continuous improvement opportunities to reduce manufacturing costs across site.
• Leads the plant PM (Planned Maintenance) function in their respective department by the development and management of PM implementation plans - especially the Stockroom DMS.
• Manages overhaul, modernizing and building of a diverse range of machinery and parts to ensure cost effective modifications and improvements.
• Monitors and assists in the development of the annual capital project forecast, maintenance and repair budgets, and monitors work to ensure budgets are met
• Responsible for benchmarking of technical team costs and budget development
• Responsible for Stock Room Budgets to include accounts in VMS (Vendor Managed Services) and OVS (Outside Vendor Services)
• Oversee the Stock KPI's/Metrics and adhere to all Workflow Process and Procedures defined by MSE.
• Provide support to Regional MRO Mgr for initiatives to optimize Stock Room Inventory.
• Oversee and coordinate activities in the Stock Room by managing parts order, receive, and store inventory, and material shipments.
• Ensure that stock inventory is adequate and are stored in a manner that preserves quality.
• Plan the layout and design of the Stock Room, considering factors such as stock turnover, size and weight.
• Communicate with other levels of leadership and make recommendations regarding nonusable, slow-moving and excess stock.
• Resolve discrepancies between inventory and stock-control records.
• Oversee the following Outside Vendor Services by: Utilizing the best methods for identifying potential vendor risks; Developing effective strategies for addressing higher-risk vendors; Implementing ongoing oversight utilizing metrics and external alerts; Train associates to interpret data (trend data, identify root cause, implement solution).; Analyze and develop permanent solutions to prevent chronic or significant quality issues.; Oversee of quality or product conformance issues to ensure corrective/preventative actions are implemented and completed.
• Provide project planning and estimate moderately complex jobs.
• Train Associates on safe operating procedures.

Education & Skills Required

Minimum:

Associates degree in technical related discipline, or greater than 10 years of experience in a technical/purchasing/manager related field of work

Preferred:

Bachelor's degree in Engineering or technical discipline

Knowledge/Experience

5-8 years recent experience in a leadership capacity working in a manufacturing/industrial environment.

Experience with operating within a formalized Continuous Improvement Environment (TPM, Lean Manufacturing).
