Public Engagement Coordinator (Creative Design)
Overview
Advance the mission and goals of PSTA by supporting the development of thoughtful, technically sound, and customer focused plans and projects. Facilitate public engagement about how to optimize existing services to address community needs, increase awareness of programs and services, and aid in decision making with the public, community organizations and governmental partners. Provide staff support in the development, analysis, data collection and implementation of the authority's programs, projects, and grants.
Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
· Support the Marketing and Planning Departments projects through database/spreadsheet creation and maintenance.
· Promote PSTA and transit services to the public with an emphasis on local school and community groups.
· Conduct informational presentations for business, civic and neighborhood groups.
· Formulate and coordinate special programs, promotions and activities to increase awareness and usage of PSTA services.
· Develop relationships with strategic partners including other local governments, civic groups and various NGOs.
· Develop and collaborate content for collateral materials and manage coordination and production with colleagues.
· Additional duties as assigned.
Public Engagement
· Help implement, maintain and update the PSTA Strategic Public Engagement Plan.
· Help with PSTA construction projects outreach, interaction, communications and business assistance programs.
· Partner with the Outreach Planner for internal communications to keep employees informed about the agency's programs and promotions.
· Assist in developing and implementing special promotions about PSTA programs for various audiences.
· Help develop and administer rider surveys (electronic and on-board) to assist Planning and Scheduling groups within the Planning Department.
· Represent PSTA at a wide variety of community events.
· Develop and maintain a shared tracking mechanism for agency promotional items such as pens, koozies, sunglasses, etc.
· Analyze and report data related to various surveys and outreach.
· Maintain and update database of comments received from the public regarding PSTA services.
· Regularly report survey results and outreach feedback to key PSTA leadership personnel.
Community and Governmental Relations
· Support Planning and Outreach staff in maintaining ongoing communications with city staff and elected officials from various member cities, the county and other partners.
· Support and foster agency relationships with various local Chambers of Commerce.
· Foster and maintain mutually beneficial relationships with community groups through one-on-one and group presentations promoting PSTA services.
Public Affairs Assistance
· Assist Marketing Department with messaging and outreach to key stakeholders as part of comprehensive promotional campaigns.
· Provide the agency's Public Information, Marketing and Business Development personnel with community comments, data, and information, as well as other assistance as requested.
Qualifications
· Education: Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Urban Planning, Communications, or related fieldwork. Preferred courses include: Marketing, Sales, Public Relations, Communications or similar fields. Five (5) years related experience can substitute for degree.
· Experience: Two years (2) years' experience in Marketing, Planning, Advocacy/Public Engagement, Public Relations or related field, or five (5) years' experience if no bachelor's degree. Demonstrated experience in public speaking and in organizing and implementing marketing campaigns, outreach efforts, and promotional activities.
· License Requirement: Must have a valid Florida Drivers' license.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS & ABILITIES
This position requires knowledge of communications, advocacy concepts and tactics, as well as the development of effective public dialogue. Applicants with knowledge of, and experience with, transit, transportation, or other public planning processes are preferred.
Communication skills, including strong writing and presentation skills are a requirement of this position. Preferred applicants will have writing and formal presentation experience. Ability to explain complex data in plain language is highly important.
Applicants must be able to demonstrate ability to work within a collaborative team environment and be comfortable providing assistance to multiple project managers. An ability to work across diverse departments and disciplines with respect, tact and professionalism is required. Successful candidates should also demonstrate their ability to be thoughtful, flexible, conscientious, organized, creative and passionate.
· Skilled in: Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to coordinate multiple tasks and complete assignments with tight deadlines. Developing outlines and implementing action plans; planning, developing, and implementing promotional programs; stimulating public interest and enthusiasm through the development of various outreach programs and campaigns; and establishing and maintaining effective relationships with the public and colleagues.
· Abilities: Tactfully interacting with the public. Demonstrating appropriate judgment to reflect will on a taxpayer supported government agency. Competent in computer programs such as Microsoft Office. Availability for evening, weekend and early-morning hours to accommodate public events is required.
