Manager, Clinical Laboratory (Healthcare)
JOB SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Coordinates and manages activities and programs; manages records for all activities and programs.Provides technical support for laboratory equipment, supplies, and data analysis tools.Responsible for overseeing the safety and security of the laboratory including maintaining current knowledge of all relevant protocols, regulations, standards, and safety procedures as well as developing and maintaining standard operating procedures.Oversees personnel functions such as interviewing, selecting, training, supervising, evaluating performance, and/or developing staff, work schedules, and assignments, organizes staff meetings; coordinates continuing education training and in-services for staff:Advises, guides, and/or directs on operational activities and/or government, industry, or institutional regulatory guidelines:Oversees inventory management such as selecting, purchasing, storing, and allocating of laboratory equipment, supplies, and data analysis tools.Responsible for laboratory equipment, supplies and data analysis tools including inspecting, maintaining, and/or troubleshooting performs and documents routine advanced quality assurance and preventive maintenance.Manages financial activities and/or reports pertaining to the laboratory.Assists in the preparation of budget estimates.Performs various technical duties in support of the laboratory.Collaborates with and/or serves as a liaison to agencies, administrators, and departments.Monitors, research, and distributes information regarding implementing changes in regulatory guidelines as well as trends and developments in techniques and technology relevant to the field.Maintains and updates protocol manuals.Other duties as assigned.
OTHER JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Employee may be required to change work schedule or work location as requested by the lab director. In state travel may be required. Employee must be able to re-locate work location as deemed necessary by the lab director
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: Supervises all Medical Technologists, Medical Lab Technicians, Flow Cytometry Technicians, and lead lab personnel for all locations.
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, LICENSURE and REGISTRATION:
Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Laboratory Science required.Five (5) years or more work experience in a laboratory or similar setting closely related to the position, required.Five (5) years or more supervisory and/or administrative experience in a laboratory or similar setting closely related to the position, required.

REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, or schedule form.
INTERPERSONAL SKILLS:
Must interact and communicate both verbally and in written form.Must interact and exchange information regarding patients with physicians and other departmental personnel, and outside agencies on a frequent basis while respecting the confidentiality of patient information.
