Our current hybrid approach requires staff to work onsite a minimum of two days each week, every Tuesday and one other day, to be determined by their business unit. Hybrid staff are also welcome to come in additional days each week or may be asked to come in on other days by their manager.
DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW
The GBH Production Group oversees GBH television operations. The Production Group is comprised of two divisions: The Studios which manages the TV studios, Fraser Recording Studio, the remote studio at Boston Public Library and EFP production; and the GBH OutPost, which provides post-production services, and tape floor operations.
JOB OVERVIEW & RESPONSIBILITIES
Direct multi-camera live and recorded programs.
Lead a team of technical professionals to achieve a finished, polished, show that is ready for delivery to Master Control or Postproduction.
Use scripts and other editorial content and turn them into a show or segment.
Block camera shots and consult with producers.
Check with crew that all systems are working appropriately including cameras, switcher, audio, lighting, VTR, shading, and teleprompter.
Assist in talent management by giving feedback and communicating expectations.
SKILL SET
Must be able to manage a group of skilled technicians.
Ability to work well as part of a team.
Attention to detail and strong executive function skills.
Superior, rapid response communication skills are vital.
Deep understanding of how a broadcast television facility works and interconnects.
Working knowledge of GV Karrera switchers and Chyron Prime CG preferred.
Excellent communications skills on both headsets and in person.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required. 4 to 6 years of experience in directing broadcast television.
