Collaborate cross-departmentally with Acquisition Editors, Managing Editorial, Sales, Production, and Design to create cover & interior designs, including layouts and typography that are visually appealing and display innovative design concepts targeting the appropriate market audience.
Partner with Sales and Marketing to provide and/or develop support materials
Communicate design concepts to team members at cover meetings
Prepare digital files for print production
Work independently and accurately to manage multiple cover design projects, prioritizing tasks to meet deadlines
Scout and recruit new designers and illustrators, as necessary
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in related field
2-4 years of relevant design experience including book cover design experience
Knowledge of children's books, adult books, and the publishing landscape
Strong sense of contemporary culture, trends, and potential niches
Ability to meet deadlines, problem-solve, and coordinate with other departments
Demonstrate a constructive approach to meeting and resolving challenges
Strong organizational and computer skills, including proficiency in the design software Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign
