The Freight Dispatcher works daily to manage owner-operator and Company driver performance as it relates to the safe and efficient transportation of our customer freight. Primary areas of responsibility include, but are not limited to: Daily coordination of regional and nationwide drivers ensuring accuracy, respect, and excellent service.Resolve scheduling issues, while maintaining and leading industry on-time service performance.Decision-making and accountability of driver performance.Coordination of backhaul planning for optimal driver utilization. Reporting Structure The Freight Dispatcher will report directly to the VP of Freight Operations. This individual is also expected to interface with other management including the leaders of the different business divisions. Essential Functions & Major Accountabilities Responsible for clear communication of individual dispatches, to include weekend dispatches and dispatches from planners.Utilize TMW to input and dispatch freight shipments.Answer requests and monitor email in a timely manner in order to provide superior service.Provide Drivers/Owner-Operators with pertinent information regarding freight shipments.Ensure Drivers are optimally utilized at all times.Develop strong working relationship with drivers, understanding their individual strengths, weaknesses, and motivators.Accomplish work requirements by scheduling and managing loads tendered by customers.Meet work standards by following production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards; resolving operational problems; and identifying process improvements.Coaches and counsels drivers and makes decisions relative to performance standards.Provides performance feedback to drivers while also keeping management informed.Dispatches drivers according to customer requests and in compliance with DOT regulations, company policies and procedures.Communicate with brokers and customers as needed, directly or thru driver or use of technology (EStat or Macropoint), while we are transporting their goods within our system.Responsible for keeping records, monitoring driver daily logs for errors and violations.Monitoring drivers in relation to both their remaining hours of service and equipment as to its availability.
