Job Description Summary:
Gathers, organizes, analyzes, and presents financial data and rating agency information in order to evaluate credit risk associated with fixed income investments held in agency and fiduciary accounts. Consults with portfolio managers regarding credit risk implicit in notes and bonds held by various types of funds and portfolios. Maintains updated information systems that provide traders and portfolio managers timely information regarding debt issuers approved for investment purposes.
Major Duties:
1. Performs fundamental financial and credit analysis using publicly available information, integrating conclusions with outside opinions and rating agency data. Recommends suitability of securities for individual portfolios and commingled funds.
2. Recommends provisional investment limits, under supervision of division manager or senior analyst, pending formal credit committee approval.
3. Ensures that assigned issuers and industry sectors are reviewed, analyzed, and documented on a timely basis, so that all internal and external regulatory requirements are fulfilled.
4. Performs special analysis projects, such as valuation of nonmarketable debt securities, exchange offerings, and credit risk evaluation of derivative financial products, under the supervision of division manager or senior analyst.
5. Assists division manager or senior analyst with private placement purchases of debt securities.
6. Performs portfolio screening of managed accounts as the basis of the Unrated Security and Below Investment Grade Reviews stipulated by fiduciary laws and regulations.
7. Builds communication links with outside rating agencies and other fixed income analysts.
8. Participates with portfolio managers on assigned committees to develop investment strategy relating to cash and fixed income securities.
Knowledge:
Knowledge of business and financial markets, financial and credit analysis, and accounting principles and techniques, usually acquired through training or experience, are required to evaluate credit risk in individual issuers and through training or experience, are required principles and techniques, usually acquired financial and credit analysis, and accounting.
Knowledge of business and financial markets, industry sectors.
Knowledge of economic conditions and their impact on the capability of debt issuers to service debt obligations, and legal matters related to structuring debt instruments, usually acquired through formal education and work experience, are required to evaluate credit risk.
Analytical and presentation skills are required to interpret offering statements and legal documents describing securities issues and to prepare and present analytical reports.
Computer skills are required to gather and present information.
Experience:
Two to five years fixed-income securities or credit related financial analysis experience.
Salary Range:
$103,600 - 176,200 USD
Salary range is a good faith estimate of base pay.
