Nurse Practitioner - School of Dentistry (Casual) (Finance)
UTHealth Houston's School of Dentistry is hiring for a Nurse Practitioner to join their team of professionals on a casual (as-needed) basis. The NP will be responsible for providing advanced nursing care to patients in a clinical setting under the direction of a physician. This individual will educate students and patients about chronic disease management and provide resources and support to manage conditions effectively. Also assists in the development and implementation of clinic protocols, guidelines, and collaborative service efforts. Experience with managing hypertension, obesity, and uncontrolled diabetes is a plus!
This position is funded by grants that comprise 50% or more of the funding. Continued employment in this position is contingent upon the availability of funding for this position. Your employment may end upon the cancellation or discontinuation of the project, program, or funding.

Provides advanced nursing care to patients in a clinical setting in an area of specialization under the direction of a physician.
Position Key Accountabilities:
1. Performs relevant patient assessments and physical examinations.
2. Coordinates, directs, and implements patient's plan of care.
3. Orders, conducts, and interprets pertinent laboratory and diagnostic studies and procedures.
4. Makes medical recommendations and/or referrals.
5. Formulates, implements, and evaluates an outcome-based treatment plan.
6. Maintains appropriate records detailing the patient's treatment plans and outcomes.
7. Facilitates patient education relating to medical processes, medication, nutrition, and health promotion.
8. Collaborates with patients, families, other clinicians, and referral services to assist in the patient's recovery.
9. Other duties as assigned.
Certification/Skills:
Current Texas Licensure as a Registered Nurse
Current Texas Licensure as an APRN-NP, and specialty certification as required by department
Basic Life Support (BLS) Certified
Minimum Education:
Masters in Nursing as NP or Masters degree in Nursing with completion of a post-masters Nurse Practitioner Certification Program.

None
Physical Requirements:
Exerts up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds frequently and/or up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.
