HVAC Mechanic (Maintenance)
Inspect, maintain, and repair HVAC systems, including chillers, boilers, air handlers, and control systems.
Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues in heating and cooling systems and perform necessary repairs.
Conduct routine preventive maintenance on HVAC equipment to ensure operational efficiency.
Monitor and adjust building automation systems (BAS) to optimize temperature, humidity, and air quality.
Respond promptly to service calls and work orders to resolve HVAC-related issues in a timely manner.
Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, and maintenance activities.
Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal HVAC regulations, safety codes, and building standards.
Assist with the installation and commissioning of new HVAC equipment as needed.
Collaborate with other maintenance staff to ensure seamless facility operations.
Follow all workplace safety procedures and use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Experience: Minimum 5-10 years of HVAC experience, preferably in commercial or government facilities.
Education: High school diploma or equivalent; technical school or apprenticeship preferred.
Licensing & Certifications:
EPA Section 608 Certification (Universal) - Required
North Carolina HVAC License H3 - Required
OSHA 10 or 30 certification - Preferred
Skills & Knowledge:
Strong understanding of HVAC systems, electrical controls, and mechanical operations.
Experience with building automation systems (BAS).
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Strong communication and customer service skills.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces.
Ability to work in varying temperatures and environmental conditions.
Work Schedule:
Full-time position; may require on-call, evening, or weekend work as needed.
