Accounting Manager (Administrative)

The Accounting Manager plays a critical hands-on role in Lockes Strategic Finance Organization, reporting directly to the Controller and ensuring that accounting operations run efficiently, financial reporting is accurate, and controls are robust. This role combines technical expertise with process improvement and collaboration to enable Lockes ambitious growth.
As the Controllers trusted partner, the Accounting Manager takes ownership of key accounting processes such as financial close, variance analysis, inventory reconciliation, and cash flow reporting, while also mentoring team members and working cross-functionally with departments like Supply Chain and Sales.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Month-End Close and Financial Reporting
Own the month-end close process, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and completion by the 5th working day or earlier.Establish and maintain weekly "soft closes" to analyze key accounts, address issues proactively, and reduce month-end pressure.Communicate daily updates on the close status to the CFO, starting two business days before month-end and continuing until completion, ensuring alignment with the Controller and other key stakeholders.Prepare and distribute financial reports and dashboards tailored to the Director of Finance, Human Resources and Administration (CFO), Controller, Supply Chain Manager (SCM), Strategic Finance Analyst (SFA), and General Operations Managers (GOMs).
2. Inventory Management and Collaboration
Partner with the SCM and Senior Accountant to ensure accurate inventory tracking and reconciliation, supporting Just-In-Time (JIT) strategies and operational efficiency.Reconcile inventory subledgers with GL accounts and address discrepancies to maintain system accuracy and financial integrity.Collaborate with the SCM to provide accurate financial insights and support technology initiatives, such as geolocation integration, for enhanced inventory control.
3. Leadership and Team Development
Directly manage accounting staff (two accountants), fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and high performance.Support team members in executing day-to-day responsibilities while mentoring them to improve processes and develop professionally.Develop cross-training plans to ensure redundancy and clear ownership of critical financial processes, including AR/AP and PO alignment.
4. Operational Discipline and Controls
Maintain and enforce strong financial controls aligned with the COSO framework or equivalent standards.Develop and implement scalable SOPs and accounting policies to ensure consistent execution across locations.Oversee credit card reconciliation processes, ensuring accurate coding, policy compliance, and follow-up on questionable transactions.
5. Cash Flow and Treasury Oversight
Deliver a rolling 13-week cash forecast, ensuring accuracy and actionable insights for decision-making.Collaborate with the Controller to provide timely updates to the CFO on cash flow, working capital, and financial health.Assist in implementing vendor payment automation through the Titan ERP system and new banking platform, improving efficiency and control.
6. ERP Optimization and Reporting
Work with the Controller and SFA to enhance Titan ERP capabilities, streamlining processes and improving reporting accuracy.Develop custom financial dashboards tailored to operational and strategic needs, including real-time inventory and PO tracking.Ensure reporting enhancements incorporate operational data, such as geolocation inventory inputs, to provide actionable insights for inventory and yard management.
7. Audit, Compliance, and Regulatory Coordination
Support audits, tax compliance, and insurance renewals by ensuring accurate documentation and adherence to regulatory standards.Act as a key point of contact for external auditors and regulatory bodies.

REQUIREMENTS:
Education: Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required; CPA or CMA preferred.Experience:
57 years in accounting or financial reporting, with a proven track record of managing financial close processes.Experience in inventory reconciliation and integrating operational data into financial systems.Demonstrated ability to manage accounting functions in dynamic, fast-paced environments.
Leadership:
3+ years managing or mentoring accounting teams, with a focus on accountability and collaboration.Experience fostering cross-functional relationships with AR/AP and operational teams.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in ERP systems (Titan experience a plus) and advanced Excel skills.Expertise in financial reporting, variance analysis, and process improvement.
Personal Attributes:
Highly organized, with a natural ability to bring order to complex processes.Strong communication skills, capable of aligning stakeholders across diverse teams.Adaptable, proactive, and solutions-oriented, with a focus on continuous improvement.
